POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Specialist will assist the Admissions Team, clients, and the Financially Responsible Parties
to facilitate the entire revenue cycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core competency is demonstrated by the ability to carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of the job. The essential
functions include, but are not limited to, the following.
1.
Managing accounts receivable.
2.
Communicating costs of services associated with care, as well as payment options to ensure that
the clients/financially responsible parties understand costs associated with services.
3.
Communicating with the financially responsible party throughout treatment.
4.
Receiving and processing payments for self-pay/deductibles.
5.
Discussing financial assistance options with clients. Obtaining and evaluating financial
information submitted for financial assistance.
6.
Promoting, establishing, and maintaining open and effective communication with clients and
staff members.
7.
Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED Required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Experience working in a mental/behavior health field. Experience working with
adolescents and their families preferrred.
Licensure/Certification: Not Applicable.
Knowledge of:
o Computers, Microsoft Office products, electronic health record (if applicable), and Great
Plains.

Ability to:
o Operate office equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine,
telephone, and general office equipment.

o Monitors/handles all issues involving credit cards.
o Ensuring the financially responsible party is kept abreast of authorization status, claims
processing, and balances owed throughout the service period.
o Responsible for entire revenue cycle.
o Demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental
stages,
and special needs of the patient population served.
o Strong billing and computer skills.
Additional Requirements:
o Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification from American Heart Association or
American Red Cross required. Must be obtained within 30 days of effective date and be
maintained as current throughout employment.
o Verbal De-Escalation training/certification required. Must be obtained within 30 days of
effective date and be maintained as current throughout employment.
o Tuberculosis screening required. Must be completed prior to effective date and rescreened
annually throughout employment.
o A minimum of two years of sobriety preferred, if in recovery.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time. Must be
able to operate office and medical equipment/devices. Must be able to move about from work area
to work area and position self to accomplish tasks. Must be able to communicate information/ideas
so others will understand, and exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to
observe details at close range. Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force to move, position,
install, and/or remove objects.
Work Environment: Must be able to perform complex tasks requiring independent knowledge and
its application to non-routine situations. May be exposed to dust, fluctuation in inside temperatures,
and electro-magnetic radiation (e.g., computer screen). The noise level in the work environment is
generally quiet.
