ANNUAL REPORT 2021-2022
It is my privilege and pleasure to present this 28
th
Annual Report for the year 2021-2022 on behalf of Lekhadeep, the Parents
Association of Accountants’ General Offices for the Welfare of Mentally Handicapped Children. Lekhadeep made its
humble beginning in the year 1993 with 6 children and has completed its 28 years of glorious service for the welfare,
wellbeing, and empowerment of the intellectually disabled persons. Lekhadeep so far has imparted free vocational training
to more than 200 intellectually disabled persons. There are 52 Special Employees on roll but only 35 special employees are
attending the institution adhering to the COVID safety guidelines strictly. As a norm, we have been paying the stipend
ranging from Rs 600/- to 2000/-per month to them. During this year, two Parents Meetings and 13Executive Committee
meetings were conducted.
Though, COVID-19 pandemic continued to show its impact on all walks of life with no exception to our institution, through
second and third wave and lockdown measures led to closure of the institution and reopened following all the COVID
appropriate protocol and preventive measures. The organization continued it vocation of making stationery items, file
boards, file pads, envelopes, etc. All the intellectually disabled children and staff members were vaccinated.
LEKHA SAMARTH : Lekha Samarth, the residential home, established in the year 2006 as a NATIONAL TRUST
PATRONIZED PROJECT has been closed down during this COVID crisis w.e.f 31.3.2021 due to administrative reasons.
GRANT-In AID
It is very unfortunate to state that GIA has been discontinued to VTCs w.e.f. 1.4.2018 under the pretext of considering
their chronological age of 18 instead of their mental age. We have filed WP No. 13660/2019 in the TS High Court along
with UVARD and other sister NGOs. The case is partly heard and posted on 12.08.2022 for Interlocutory.
ACTIVITIES
It gives me immense satisfaction to state that even during these unfavorable situation our Special Employees manufactured
1,56,800 file pads to High Courts of AP & TS, 24,600 file covers, 22,200 envelopes, 432 note books in addition to 93 Kg. of
wheat flour, and 129 Ltrs of phenyl.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Organic Garden: We continued our organic farming of cultivating green leafy vegetable and vegetables as a project for
diversification of activities to the differently able children.
Gym: For physical wellbeing of the special employees, gym equipment was installed and it is used by the Special
Employees regularly.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
To take a break from the monotony of work and COVID restrictions, we took our children and teachers for an outing to a
movie Bheemla Nayak.
We celebrated World Disabled Day on December 4
th
2021 by conducting sports competitions to the disabled persons in
Running, Lemon & Spoon Race, Sack Race, Arrow shooting and cultural program and distributed prizes to all the
participants and winners in respective game. Sri V.Saradhi, Co-Director of Telugu cinemas was the Chief Guest; the
managing committee members, parents, staff and all the intellectually disabled children participated in the programme
