4-H Year Flying By
Our 4-H year is quickly coming to an end and we are busy talking
about record books, charters, re-enrollment and getting started on next
years projects. Although we don’t know what the upcoming year will
look like, I know we can get creative to make the best of it.
Don’t forget that any in-person events/gatherings still need
approval by the State Oce. Please contact me and I will help you
ll out the proper forms. More information on this can be found on
page 2. Please consider trying a project meeting, or club meeting in a
creative way.
Barron County 4-H has so much to oer, so if there’s something
you’re looking for--a project resource, an activity, something else--
let me know. I look forward to hearing from you. The easiest way to
reach me is via email: [email protected].
Sincerely,
Sara Waldron

Group/Club Meetings (groups of 10 or less)
REMINDER: Currently, groups of 10 or less can meet
together. There are ways to get creative with groupings
of 10. Any in-person events currently need program
approval by the state oce (it seems like a long process,
but it really isn’t)We also have the ability to meet virtually.
This is temporary, so let’s be creative in how we can have
club/project meetings! If you have an idea or suggestion,
let us know!
RECORD BOOKS
Record Book Clarication
In order to achieve at the county level (which
aects event funding through the Leaders Association,
Participation in the Livestock Sale, and eligibility to
advance to district, state, or national level activities/
competitions) clubs will complete a Club Achievement
Record which involves club members to submit photos/
reections, or other (it is up to the club what this looks
like and anyone can take the lead on this--it’s a great
project for youth to take on). Full details can be found
online under 4-H forms.
Clubs can still set their own criteria for club level
achievement and this is only to meet the requirements
established by the Leaders Association--it has no aect on
membership or participation in county activities.
If you have questions, please contact any Leaders
Association member, or Sara at [email protected].
You can also nd a Google Slides template to use of you
would like on the website.

4-H Clubs to Create Newest Cedar Crest Ice
Cream Flavor: Entries Now Being Accepted
Cedar Crest Ice Cream, Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and
the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation have teamed up again to
present the “Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Contest”
for Wisconsin 4-H clubs. More than 1600 clubs are
eligible to create and submit a avor ‘recipe’ with the top
clubs named as nalists, and the top avor produced for
summer 2021.
According to Brenda Scheider, Executive Director
of the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation, the contest is a great
opportunity for 4-H youth to work together to develop and
name their avor. “The most exciting part of the contest
is the winning avor will be available through Cedar
Crest beginning next July.” The annual contest has already
yielded popular avors including Deep Woods, created
by the Badger Boosters 4-H Club of West Bend and
Wisconsin Campre S’mores, created by the Springbrook
4-H Club of New Richmond. This year’s winning avor
was Road Trip Wisconsin, created by the Trail Blazers
4-H Club of Holmen in LaCrosse County.
A panel of ice cream experts chosen by Cedar Crest
judges the entries. The company manufacturers more
than 80 avors of ice cream, along with frozen custard,
sherbet and sorbet at its Manitowoc, Wisconsin, plant, and
distributes products in ve states. Many of the avors now
produced by Cedar Crest, including Wisconsin Campre
S’mores and Big Muddy, are a result of the contest.
More information and the entry form are available
at www.cedarcresticecream.com. Entries are due by
November 13, 2020. The winner will be announced in
December 2020.
Based in Madison, WI, the Wisconsin 4-H Foun-
dation provides essential funding for 4-H programs
throughout Wisconsin. By partnering with individuals,
corporations and foundations, the Wisconsin 4-H Foun-
dation supports more than 150,000 youth who take part
in various 4-H leadership, development and communi-
ty-building activities throughout the state. Learn more

My favorite part
about 4-H Is playing
BinGO with the resi-
dents at the Nursing
Home. ~Sydney
My favorite memory from
4-H was when we played
team building games as
a club. It was really fun to
get to know some of the
people I didn’t know as
well and work together to
solve problems. ~Claire
My favorite memory would
have to be getting my rst
invite to ride at state fair. That’s
something the horse project
kids get hand selected for and
not many get to go, so to be
chosen is a real honor. ~Alison

My favorite memory from
4-H was nally achieving
my goal of having the
grand champion cake at
the Barron County Cake
review last year in 2019.
~Makayla
4-H was a wonderful experience in
Ethan’s life. The projects he tried and
the projects he stuck with, and espe-
cially his 4-H family. ~Ethan’s Mom
(Ethan joined the Army on June 30)
As our 4-H Graduates
share their 4-H memories
through pictures and
words, we wish them the
best in their futures.
4-H youth have the option of becoming
an ofcial 4-H Alum after 12th grade or
their 13th year in 4-H (one year post high
school graduation). We celebrate these 16
individuals who will be moving on the the
next chapter in their lives and hope to have
them back as 4-H volunteers and/or families!
4-H Graduates,
May you continue to “Make the Best Better” throughout your lifetime. We hope you will share the
knowledge and experiences you gained on your 4-H journey with others and through your work and
community involvement. All of us in Barron County 4-H are proud of you and all you have achieved.

4-H CAMP AWAY FROM CAMP 2020
Camp Away from Camp
Although we couldn’t go to
4-H camp this year in person,
several Barron County youth
took advantage of our virtual
camp. Youth from Barron
County, Polk County, and St.
Croix County spent the week
working through fun camp
activities, enjoyed singing their
favorite camp songs at both the
opening and closing campres,
and also got to connect with our
counselors throughout the week participating in creative
activities and games.
This camp was made possible
because of the hard work of
our dedicated camp counselors.
They spent many hours
preparing for and organizing
camp. Barron County camp
counselors were Elora Repman
from Brill Harvesters 4-H Club
and Lincoln Buergi from Rock
Creek 4-H Club. A big thank
you to them for all of their hard
work!
