Rev. David A. Rice, Trustee
Rev. David A. Rice is pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Wooster and a member of The College of Wooster Board of
Trustees. He grew up in Taiwan as a son of Presbyterian missionaries.
Rev. Rice is a former professional opera singer, performing in regional opera houses and concert halls across the U.S. and
at the opera house in Wuppertal, Germany, and as a guest artist in other German opera houses from 1989-96. He earned a
bachelor’s in music and theater from North Park University in Chicago, and a Master of Music in voice performance from
Northwestern University.
After being called to ministry in the late 1990s, Rev. Rice earned a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological
Seminary. From 2000-2014, he was pastor and head of sta at First Presbyterian Church in Anniston, Alabama. He was
named pastor and head of sta at First Presbyterian Church of Wooster in April 2014.
He is married to Karolyn, a musician and piano teacher, and they have two sons: Brendan, living and working in Rome,
Italy, and Brian, who is working for Texas Tech University in Dallas, Texas.
Darius Scott Dixson ’13 pka “DIXSON”
Darius Scott Dixson ’13, known as “DIXSON” professionally, is a singer, songwriter, and producer who plays 11
instruments. He stepped into the national spotlight in 2016 as part of Pharrell’s team on NBC’s The Voice. Shortly after
he left the show, he was signed by record label Roc Nation and has since collaborated with notable musicians, including
Kim Burrell, Peter CottonTale, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Pharrell Williams, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. He
also more recently worked with Justin Bieber on the acoustic version of the hit track, “Holy.” And in 2021, he wrote
and produced his rst solo album with Roc Nation, entitled Darling, releasing singles such as “Summertime.Fin,” “Aura,”
and “BIG BRAVE MAN”—a song dedicated to his father who passed away in 2019.
In 2022, DIXSON received an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song category for the music and lyrics of “Be Alive”
from the motion picture King Richard, alongside Beyoncé. The song plays during the credits for the lm that focuses on the
story of the father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams.
A Posse Scholar from Atlanta, DIXSON graduated from Wooster in 2013, with a self-designed major in arts and media
management. While at Wooster, he was part of several ensembles including the Wooster Chorus, The Wooster Fragments,
the Wooster Jazz Ensemble, and he served as the music director of his on-campus band, Freddie Cool. In 2010, he became
a brother of Xi Chi Psi and also a member of the Black Student Association. In 2011, DIXSON studied abroad in Paris,
concentrating in French business and fashion merchandising. As a student, he held internship roles at MTV, The National
Conference of Black Mayors, and was a founding team member of the streetwear brand, KITH.
He began his senior year at the peak of the SoundCloud era and worked with advisor Denise Bostdor, professor of
communication studies, to complete an Independent Study that examined how lm can be used to instruct independent
music artists on branding and promotion, including a short documentary called The Grey Area, a compilation of interviews
with independent music artists, music industry executives, music producers, songwriters, and entertainment lawyers
sharing his passion for educating independent music artists on the best practices in promotion and branding.
Rev. Enikö Ferenczy
Rev. Enikö Ferenczy, Ph.D., serves as Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, church in residence at The College
of Wooster. She loves exploring the intersection of faith and public life both in her ministry and personal life. A former
chemical engineer called into ministry, Ferenczy brings experience in interfaith grassroots justice ministry, teaching in a
variety of contexts, and work with refugees. She developed and led a refugee integration program within the Reformed
Church in Hungary and did her Ph.D. research on the church’s engagement with refugees and migrants. She was also
a participant in WCC’s Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme for Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) and is a passionate
advocate for reconciliation in the region. Ferenczy loves the outdoors, especially hiking around waterfalls. She grows a lot
of hot peppers and is ready to lead you through culinary experiments.
Ferenczy holds a chemical engineering degree from the University of Babes-Bolyai in Cluj, Romania, and earned her
Master of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, where she also served as
the international student advisor. “Beyond Borders: Toward a Migration-Conscious Theology of Mission for the Reformed
Church in Hungary,” is the title of her dissertation.
