Step-Up Summer Bridge Program
to the
ADN-to-BSN PROGRAM
Fast-Track your BSN experience with CSULB School of Nursing!
The Step-Up Summer Bridge program is a complementary experience while completing the ADN degree.
This program allows current ADN students to complete non-clinical BSN courses prior to being admitted to our ADN-to-
BSN program. The ideal candidate for this program is in the 2nd or 3rd semester of their ADN program.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY TO THE SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM
Currently in a fully-accredited Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) program
2.75 GPA or higher - both Nursing and Overall GPA
Open to all eligible students (40 students admitted each summer)
Full-time or part-time enrollment through College of Continuing and Professional Education
All students must start with NRSG 309 as the first class
All potential students will need to apply to this program by mailing in or hand-delivering the Step-Up Summer Bridge
application form and unofficial transcripts by March 15.
ADN-TO-BSN APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
When it is time for a Step-Up student to transfer to CSULB, then ALL students must apply to the School of Nursing ADN-
to-BSN program. Students are admitted to the University and to the Nursing Program in the Fall and Spring semesters.
Applying for admission to CSULB is required prior to applying for admission to the School of Nursing (apply online at
www.calstate.edu/apply). Send in official transcripts of all college work for the CSULB application.
Submit the School of Nursing ADN-to-BSN Application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application to the School
of Nursing. Official transcripts must be submitted to CSULB Enrollment Services when requested by CSULB Enrollment
Services. Students should be aware that all academic qualifications are subject to verification with official transcripts and
failure to submit by the deadline would result in the withdrawal of their application.
GENERAL ADN-TO-BSN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be completed prior to transferring to CSULB’s ADN-to-BSN program:
Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree program
A CSU-transferable Chemistry class with in-class lab
Lower Division Statistics
2.75 Nursing/Overall GPA minimum
Must have a complete GE Packet with 56-70 transferable units (as determined by the CSULB Office of Enrollment
Services)
A valid California RN license and nursing malpractice insurance required for first clinical nursing course
CSULB Writing Proficiency Exam (GWAR) must be attempted during the first semester as a University requirement
Application Deadlines
Separate applications for CSULB and the School of Nursing are required.
