MAP AND BRIDGE LISTING I

This map and this bridge listing are provided by the Colorado Department of Transportation to help highway users

1. highway structures which cannot presently withstand the maximum legal load (black

2. structures which cannot presently withstand the maximum over load permit weights (orange and yellow structure); and

3. structures which can presently withstand the maximum overload permit weights (white structures).

The map and the bridge listing represent the best information available at the time of publication, but they are subject to change.

The weight restrictions for orange, yellow, and white structures are defined in terms of axle configurations and are shown in the

table below the map. The weight restrictions for black structures are defined in terms of gross vehicle weights and are shown in

the bridge listing under the truck type.

To minimize the inconvenience and difficulty, truckers are urged to consult the map and bridge listing in planning available routes

for a particular vehicle and load. The following is an explanation of the information provided in the bridge listing.

Route No. - When a U.S. highway has more than one route number, the lowest possible route number is the one used in this

column.

Milepost - This is the mileage from the beginning point of the route, figuring from south to north or from west to east. The milepost

indicates the location of the structure with respect to the milepost signs on the highway.

Bridge No. - This is the structure identification number used by the Department of Transportation and appears on a plaque at the

structure. The first letter and number are related to the grid references shown on the map.

Truck Type - These three columns show the gross weight limitations for load posted (black) structures in terms of the three

common truck types. Load posted structures will have a posting sign showing these gross weight limitations with their associated

truck types. An example of the sign, with truck types, is shown below.

Feature Crossed - This column shows the name of the feature crossed by the structure. On divided highways designations are

used:

1. SB - South Bound Lane

2. NB - North Bound Lane

3. EB - East Bound Lane

4. WB - West Bound Lane

Bridge Color - This column shows the color of black, orange, and yellow structures. White structures are not included in the

bridge listing.
