The Hawk Talk
The 37TRW weekly rundown of events, news and need-to-know information
Nov. 1, 2021
WARHAWK OF THE WEEK
Col. Rockie K Wilson, 37 TRW commander, (left) and Chief Master Sgt. Mike Morgan, 37 TRW
command chief, stand with Tech. Sgt. Araceli Contreras, who was coined Oct. 29.
Tech. Sgt. Araceli Contreras is a Military Training Instructor assigned to the 331 TRS. TSgt
Contreras stood out when called upon in a crucial time to revamp the Commander’s Support
Staff in response to a short-notice manning shortfall. TSgt Contreras pressed pause on her
mission of training the next generation of Airmen/Guardians to apply her expertise in
streamlining processes for routing, working with other agencies to establish the new Squadron
SharePoint which will enable personnel to view leave, obtain vital information, in and/or out-
process, and she launched a tracking system to guarantee decorations are processed on time!
Additionally, she mentored our youngest Wolfpack member by creating an easy to follow
checklist outlining core CSS responsibilities, coached him through presentations/staff meeting
procedures, and inspired him to enroll in his bachelor’s degree. Finally, TSgt Contreras is not
only creating the squadron’s battle rhythm, transforming it into a well-oiled machine, she is also
conquering two college courses en route to her master’s degree.
Kelly Wilbricht was coined Oct. 29 by Col. Rockie K Wilson, 37 TRW commander, left, and Chief
Master Sgt. Mike Morgan, 37 TRW command chief.
Kelly Wilbricht is the Unit Program Coordinator for the 322 TRS and she goes above and
beyond to keep our Command Support Section’s on time and with 100% accuracy for all of our
personnel actions for 70 permanent party personnel. She was a Superior Performer during our
September 2021 Unit Effectiveness Inspection and the Wg/IG personnel were extremely
impressed with her section and its overall excellent performance! She is also a great mentor for
our military personnel and the personalist who works with her in the CSS, A1C Shane Filley,
was selected for promotion to Senior Airman Below the Zone!
AROUND THE 37 TRW
Col. Kang Wa Bahizi, Democratic Republic of Congo, is a student at DLIELC.
DLIELC
DLIELC Holds Promotion Ceremony for Democratic Republic of Congo Students: On Nov.
2, the 37 TRW will host a promotion ceremony for five officers from the Democratic Republic of
Congo (DRC). These officers are current students in the Defense Language Institute English
Language Center Advanced English program. In previous decades, students from the DRC
have not been granted a promotion while attending courses in the United States due to strained
relations between our two nations. Currently, with the election of President Felix Tshisekedi in
December 2018, the United States and DRC have reestablished a deepening and strong
relationship with a commitment to work together on matters of mutual concern in the AFRICOM
AOR. The 37 TRW and DLIELC will continue support of our partners in the DRC; this promotion
ceremony exemplifies a shift of perspective in the region and an opportunity for furthered
security cooperation.
IAAFA
IAAFA Noche Cultural 2021-C: For the first time in 12 years, the Inter-American Air Forces
Academy hosted Cultural Night. The event highlighted the diversity of the Academy’s cadre,
staff and students. It also reinforces the diversity and inclusion through the curriculum and
operations in support of AETC’s Security Cooperation priorities and support to COCOM
objectives. Countries participating include Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama,
and Paraguay.
37 TRG
345 TRS 2T2 AMC Innovation Team shows students the strategic direction of the career
field: On Oct. 25, the HQ AMC / A4T Innovations team; including CMSgt William Villarreal (2T2
CFM), Mike Courtney (pictured above), and other senior career field leaders took time between
conferences to talk directly to our Port Dawgs in training. The future of Port, and Logistics
operations overall, looks bright as the team takes students through the concept of autonomous
flight line loading operations, upgrades to 2T2 training tracking, and urging everyone to innovate
and communicate their innovations.
OF NOTE:
AETC iSummit: HQ AETC/A9 will host this quarter’s Innovation Summit (iSummit) via Zoom
from JBSA-Randolph Nov. 10 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Central Time. The theme for this quarter’s
summit is “Innovation Accelerators You Need to Know.” Lt. Gen. Webb, AETC commander, will
address the command on innovation. This quarter’s iSummit will also include the following
