longest on tour last year at 7,765 yards.
• The course also features some of the
smaller greens on tour at just 5,000 sq. ft to
tie for 6

among primary courses on the
tour.
Last weeks PGA West Stadium Course
also featured an average of 5,000 sq. ft.
greens, while the secondary course at La
Quinta Country Clubs greens were just
4,773 sq. ft.
Assistant superintendent brothers Jeffrey
and Gary Bley started at Torrey Pines in
November and are working together for the
first time in their careers.
• The land at Torrey Pines was home to
Camp Callan and was used as an anti-
aircraft artillery replacement training center
from 1941-45 before becoming a golf course
in 1957.
• For the second straight year a GCSAA
First Green event is being held on the North
Course Monday, Jan. 21.
