• Torrey Pines’ South Course was the

longest on tour last year at 7,765 yards.

• The course also features some of the

smaller greens on tour at just 5,000 sq. ft to

tie for 6

among primary courses on the

tour.

• Last week’s PGA West Stadium Course

also featured an average of 5,000 sq. ft.

greens, while the secondary course at La

Quinta Country Club’s greens were just

4,773 sq. ft.

• Assistant superintendent brothers Jeffrey

and Gary Bley started at Torrey Pines in

November and are working together for the

first time in their careers.

• The land at Torrey Pines was home to

Camp Callan and was used as an anti-

aircraft artillery replacement training center

from 1941-45 before becoming a golf course

in 1957.

• For the second straight year a GCSAA

First Green event is being held on the North

Course Monday, Jan. 21.
