ACCOUNTING & TAX PROGRAM
The accounting program at MiraCosta is designed to provide
relevant instruction in the accounting profession both for
transfer and the bookkeeping and tax preparation elds.
The program gives students the theoretical and hands-on
experience needed to establish and advance their career.
With exible courses that meet days, evenings, weekends, and
online. Experienced instructors bring the subject matter to life
and provide a rewarding educational experience.
Courses include nancial and managerial accounting;
individual tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll;
as well as business taxation and IRS tax volunteer preparation.
Students take accounting and tax program courses to
prepare for the major, complete job-related certicates, earn
continuing education units

for professional licenses,
and fulll general education requirements.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
Activities outside the classroom include industry tours,
internships, and guest speakers from professionals in the eld.

Associate Degrees in Accounting are offered to provide
students with the hands-on knowledge and skills to secure a
career in the eld. An associate degree requires completion of
a Certicate of Achievement and general education courses
specied in the MiraCosta College catalog.
