Explanatory notes
This is a live list of secured events and future hosting opportunities of itinerant international
events (rather than annual international events based in the UK), that UK Sport considers
of strategic interest to host. By using data and insight, the hosting target list is designed to
appeal to all parts of British society and has balance across location, year, gender, disability
sport and demographic appeal.
All event hosting opportunities identified here remain subject to further discussions between
partners, potentially including detailed feasibility work. It is therefore possible, and indeed
likely, that some of the events on this list will not progress to bid stage. In addition,
some events that have been identified as priority targets are not currently listed.
We will share the hosting target list with the UK’s event hosting partners every 12 months
with the aim of facilitating informed and strategic discussions between sports and cities.
Whilst many events on this list will be eligible to be considered for investment by UK Sport,
some will require funding beyond our budget. The events marked with an asterisk mean we
will work with DCMS and home nation governments on the feasibility to host, fund and
secure these events. Details of this process can be found in the Gold Framework. If you
